New teacher training course on instrumental analysis

06/24/2026

The Didactics Team at the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy is launching a new series of professional development courses for secondary school teachers.

Instrumental analysis is an indispensable part of modern natural sciences and plays a central role in research, environmental analysis, medicine and industry. In a professional development course put together by the Didactics of Chemistry Department, secondary school teachers gain practical insight into selected analytical methods and their potential applications in the classroom.

The focus is on modern measurement and analytical techniques that can be used to identify, quantify and characterise substances. Participants will learn about selected methods of instrumental analysis, try out practical applications and discuss ways of integrating this content into their lessons in an age-appropriate and competence-oriented manner. The course covers both the scientific fundamentals and didactic approaches to implementation.

The training course offers the opportunity to deepen one’s own subject knowledge, gain new inspiration for experiment-based teaching and establish a partnership with the faculty. Starting next year, as part of a measurement week during summer vacation, students will be able to conduct measurements using the methods presented in the LFB for W-seminars and project work. Information on the registration process for students will follow.

Further information about the course and the application process can be found on the FIBS training portal.
