Wesley Chalifoux is a professor at the University of Alberta in Canada. There, he is researching the synthesis, characterization and application of novel chiral nanographenes. In order to determine their application potential, he sought contact with Prof. Würthner at the University of Würzburg, who has the necessary expertise and equipment at his chair and at the Center for Nanosystems Chemistry.

During his stay, Prof. Chalifoux will first use a CD-CPL hybrid spectrometer to investigate his promising materials for their chiroptic properties. A thermal vapor deposition system will then be used to incorporate the substances into organic electronic components (OTFTs, SCFETs, OPV, OPD) and measure them, with the aim of demonstrating their suitability as functional materials in organic electronics.

The stay in Würzburg is funded by a Humboldt Research Fellowship for experienced researchers. We look forward to collaborating with Professor Chalifoux during the next three months!
