Every semester, we organise visits from school classes to our laboratories. They experiment on various topics and are supervised by student teachers in small groups. This way our student teachers can try out the lessons you have designed in seminar in practice and find out as early as possible whether they feel comfortable in the role of chemistry teacher. And if you want to get to know more great experiment stations, other types of schools, an inclusive methodology or simply have a lot of fun, simply sign up for these credits as part of your electives.
Würzburg has been offering an elite degree programme for aspiring science teachers for 12 years. For all those who want to go beyond the chatGPT level and prepare themselves to be able to professionally design lessons and teaching materials with AI, the EET4STEM Master's programme will be available as of Winter Semester 2026. It is designed in such a way that it can be studied alongside the standard teacher training programme and is consistently interdisciplinary: Students from computer science-related degree programmes acquire additional didactic skills and teacher trainees from the natural sciences receive basic training in computer science. Together, they develop a concrete AI product for science lessons over several semesters
Hey, I'm David. Teaching has always been a little passion of mine. I'm particularly fascinated by the subject of chemistry because it offers an incredible variety of opportunities, regardless of the degree programme. The teacher training programme combines specialist knowledge with didactic skills and also enables numerous exciting internships. These not only offer an insight into the everyday life of a chemistry teacher through the numerous school internships, but also enable exciting experiences in current research through internships in the various working groups. Here at the University of Würzburg, your own horizons are broadened in every respect.
Student teachers are "travellers between worlds" at university. They always study multiple subjects and are therefore in different faculties. There are therefore several structures at the University of Würzburg to represent the interests of student teachers: In the M!ND Centre all science teaching departments have joined forces for joint teaching and research. Here you practice looking beyond the boundaries of your own subject. The Professional School of Education (PSE)provides support and advice specific to the teaching profession - for example, if you would like to do a school placement abroad or a semester at one of our partner universities.
Whether it's relaxed sunbathing on the banks of the Main, a glass of wine in the picturesque vineyards or loud nights out in the clubs - your free time in Würzburg is as varied as the city itself.
When you study in Würzburg, you benefit from a unique atmosphere. The city's highlights - from the impressive Würzburg Residence and the New University on Sanderring to the idyllic banks of the River Main with a view of Marienberg Fortress - are all within walking distance. Student life in Würzburg perfectly combines culture, nature and urban flair.
