Office of the Dean

The Office of the Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy

The Office of the Dean is the central administrative unit of the Faculty and liaises with all other university institutions. The Dean, the two Vice Deans, and the Managing Director are assisted by the Secretary to the Dean and the Dean of Studies.

The Office of the Dean is responsible for managing the budget, managing appointment and doctoral procedures as well as preparing and following up meetings of Faculty committees, such as the Faculty Board, or the Faculty’s professorial staff. The primary commitment of the Office of the Dean is to provide leadership to the Faculty and steer the strategic direction of its research and teaching activities.

The Dean, the Head of the Faculty, is elected for two-year terms by the Faculty Board. In accordance with the provisions of Bayerisches Hochschulgesetz (Bavarian Higher Education Act, BayHSchG), the Dean manages all human resources and financial matters of the Faculty and signs doctoral and Habilitation diplomas. Two Vice Deans assist and deputize the Dean of our Faculty. The Vice Deans, too, are elected for two-year terms by the Faculty Board.
