Prof. Dr. Ulrich Schatzschneider

Prof. Dr. Ulrich Schatzschneider is Professor of Bioinorganic Chemistry at the University of Würzburg since September 2010. He grew up in the Rheinland in the North-Western part of Germany. After studies of Chemistry at the University of Düsseldorf and a PhD degree obtained from the Max-Planck-Institute for Bioinorganic Chemistry, he did a 2-year postdoc in the group of Prof. Dr. Jacqueline K. Barton at the California Institute of Technology. Upon his return to Germany, he started his independent career, first at the University of Heidelberg and then the Ruhr-Universität Bochum. He obtained his habilitation in Inorganic Chemistry in 2010 and then was immediately appointed to his current position.

Prof. Schatzschneider has published more than 75 original papers in the field of bioinorganic and bioorganometallic chemistry as well as several reviews and book chapters. In addition to reviewing for major international journals and funding agencies, he is currently an editoral board member of ChemistrySelect, a member of NFDI4Chem, and one of the lead developers of the TUCAN program package.
