Success for Daniel Friedewald in Milazzo, Italy
07/31/2025Daniel Friedewald received one of the coveted poster prizes at the 26th International Symposium on Photochemistry and Photophysics of Coordination Compounds (ISPPCC).
Together with his colleague Simon Soldner and their doctoral supervisor, professor Frank Würthner, Daniel Friedewald represented the Institute of Organic Chemistry at the conference. While Prof Würthner gave a talk about the group's latest advances in the field of artificial photosynthesis, Simon presented his work with a poster on "Room-Temperature Phosphorescence of Cocrystals of Aromatic Bisimides and Triplet Sensitizer Pt(acac)₂". Daniel convinced the jury with his poster entitled "Harnessing an Oxide Relay Pathway in a Molecular Cleft for Light-Driven Water Oxidation".
The ISPPCC is recognised as the world's leading conference for light-induced processes in coordination compounds and solar energy conversion. This year, photochemists from all over the world met in the Italian coastal town of Milazzo from 8 to 12 July for an exciting programme with inspiring discussions and insights into current cutting-edge research. For the participants, it was an enriching week full of science and international dialogue. An ideal opportunity to network with the global photochemistry community.
