Interdisciplinary exchange of information and experience between RNA researchers at the RNA Biochemistry meeting
06.10.2025Claudia Höbartner, Manisha Walunj, and Sarah Christopher presented their latest research findings at the 13th Meeting of the GBM Study Section “RNA Biochemistry” & Workshop “Frontiers in RNA Chemical Biology.”
Prof. Claudia Höbartner and representatives of the working group, Dr. Manisha Walunj and PhD student Sarah Christopher, joined the meeting of the GBM Study Section “RNA Biochemistry” in the CJD Bonn Castell guesthouse. From September 29 to October 2, the study group of the Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology met for an interdisciplinary exchange of experiences and information.
In the workshop “Frontiers in RNA Chemical Biology,” Claudia informed national and international guests about current research results. Manisha was selected to present her work “Ribozymes for Site-specific Labeling of RNA” in a lecture, and Sarah was able to engage in intensive discussions with other scientists on her topic “In vitro selection of ribozymes for fluorescent labelling of RNA that contain epitranscriptomic modifications” during the poster session.
With around 5,000 members, the German Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (GBM) is the largest bioscience association in Germany. Its focus is on promoting research and teaching in the field of biochemistry and molecular life sciences, supporting and promoting young scientists, and networking among its members. Cooperation with other national and international societies ensures international exchange.
Various specialist groups under the umbrella of the GBM represent the broad spectrum of scientific topics. The RNA BIOCHEMISTRY study group sees itself as a forum for groups from across the entire research field.
Through regular meetings, such as the recently held 13th Meeting of the GBM Study Section “RNA Biochemistry” & Workshop “Frontiers in RNA Chemical Biology,” it offers an interdisciplinary exchange of information and experience between RNA researchers. Research groups from different fields, and young researchers in particular, have the opportunity to present and discuss their work in short presentations and poster sessions. In addition, companies can present new equipment, methods, and trends.
