New Impulses for Organic Chemistry: Research Projects 2026 and International Conference in Würzburg

08.01.2026

The new year brings exciting developments: several new research projects are launching in our group, and ongoing projects continue successfully. A special highlight is the GDCh Biochemistry 2026 conference "From chemical structures to biological functions", which we will host from March 16-18, 2026 in Würzburg. We cordially invite you to be part of this international scientific exchange!

We look ahead to the coming months with great anticipation: various new research initiatives are taking shape in our group, while established projects are achieving important progress. The scientific momentum and dedication of our team promise a year full of exciting insights and new developments.

We look forward to a special highlight fostering scientific exchange: We will be hosting this year's GDCh-Biochemistry conference and cordially invite you to this event taking place March 16-18, 2026, in Würzburg, Germany.

The GDCh-Biochemistry conference is an international meeting that will cover cutting-edge research and pioneering technologies driving progress in biochemistry and chemical biology. The conference is organized by the Study Group "Biochemistry" of the Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker (GDCh) (www.gdch.de/biochemie). A goal of our conference is to bring together leading scientists and rising talents to explore the most exciting scientific frontiers in biochemistry in the heart of Europe. The broad collection of topics within the field of biochemistry/chemical biology should appeal to scientists with both chemical and biological backgrounds from academia and industry.

Conference Topics 2026

  1. Protein engineering and enzyme chemistry
  2. Chemical biology of natural product discovery and engineering
  3. Nucleic acid chemical biology, epitranscriptomics and chemical genetics
  4. Novel strategies in drug discovery
  5. Frontiers of integrative structural biology

The conference program will also include one session by FOR 5596 "Unfolding the potential of S-adenosylmethionine-dependent enzyme chemistry".
