This prize was established in 1999 and consists of free one-year subscriptions to the Thieme journals SYNTHESIS, SYNLETT and SYNFACTS. Every year, the editorial boards of these three journals select several young scientists, who have been recognized as high potential researchers in the field of synthetic organic chemistry at the beginning of their independent careers. In 2015, 66 awardees have been selected from all over the world.

Florian Beuerle received several awards in the past. In particular, he has been awarded a Liebig fellowship for his habilitation from the Fonds der Chemischen Industrie.
