AK Kurth, Advertisement for a PhD position

Ph.D.-position in Supramolecular Chemistry and Material Science

The Laboratory for Chemical Technology and Material Synthesis in the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy at the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg is seeking a PhD student to work on supramolecular, metallo-supramolecular and colloidal materials. The goal is to synthesis, fabricate and characterize new metallo-supramolecular polymers with stimuli-responsive properties.

Responsibilities and tasks
The project is characterized by a high degree of interdisciplinary research and offers a wide range of research opportunities including national and international collaborations.

Tasks:

  • Develop a basic understanding of supramolecular polymers and colloidal materials;
  • Determine and understand structure-property relationships;
  • You are interested in working in a highly interdisciplinary environment;
  • You have a strong drive to work independently, you can work in a team and you have a strong motivation to collaborate with others;
  • You have a fundamental interest in chemical and material synthesis and materials characterization;

Qualifications
You must have a regular university master's degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master's degree. A master degree in chemistry, chemical materials science, and supramolecular chemistry is preferred. Experiences in materials synthesis and characterization is beneficial. Good communication & writing skills as well as a very good command in English is expected.

Approval and Enrolment
The acceptance as PhD candidate is subject to academic approval and the student will be enrolled in the Graduate School of Science and Technology (GSST). For more information visit: www.graduateschools.uni-wuerzburg.de/en/science-and-technology/home/. The position is available immediately for an initial period of one year with the option of extension for another four years. Remuneration will be based on the Tarifvertrag für den öffentlichen Dienst der Länder (Collective Agreement for the Public Service of German Federal States).
