Recognition and Greater Responsibility:

Tobias Hertel was recently appointed Subject Editor (SE) Chemistry for the journal Royal Society Open Science (RSOS). Published by the Royal Society – the United Kingdom’s national academy of sciences – RSOS is a multidisciplinary open-access journal that features research across the entire range of the natural sciences.

Subject Editors are responsible for the scientific review and editorial handling of several hundred manuscripts per year in their field. They oversee the peer-review process, make editorial decisions, and help ensure scientific standards and fairness in the evaluation of submissions.

The appointment is a recognition of ongoing editorial contributions, following five years on the advisory board and two years as associate editor of Royal Society Open Science.
