In the Schatzschneider group, an international team of Bachelor and Master students from Chemistry and related disciplines as well as doctoral and postdoctoral researchers works on interdisciplinary projects at the interface of chemistry, biology, and medicine.
We have already had people from six continents in the group (with only Antarctica missing for obvious reasons) and recent team members were from Afghanistan, Egypt, Cameroon, China, France, Iran, Serbia, South Africa, and Spain as well as Germany, of course.
How to join
If you are interested to join, please send me your detailed application package by email.
Due to limited lab space, Bachelor and Master students should enquire at least 3-4 months before the intended starting date to ensure we can accommodate you at your preferred date. Please include a current Transcript of Records with your application. Attention - New rules for Bachelor thesis projects: Due to a high number of requests, in 2023/2024 there will only be 3 "slots" for 2 projects each: 25.09. to 15.12.2023, 15.04. to 05.07.2024, and 23.09. to 13.12.2024. Please send you application by the following deadlines: 01.07.2023, 15.12.2023, and 15.07.2024. Students will be selected on a competitive basis considering both the quality of the application package and a personal interview.
Unless indicated otherwise, doctoral and postdoctoral candidates have to secure their own financial support in the form of a fellowship and include at least 1-2 reference letters with their application. Please note that grant applications and visa procedures take a considerable amount of time and therefore, you should enquire at least 9-12 months before your intended starting date.
Incomplete applications, for example not including a subject line or full CV, as well as generic "mass mailings" have a good chance to be deleted without response. All supplementary documents are considered exclusively in PDF format due to data security concerns.
