Two Postdoctoral Grants at the Center for Nanosystems Chemistry

03/03/2014

We are happy to announce that two of our postdoctoral fellows were given grants for their excellent efforts

Left: Pawaret Leowanawat from Thailand ; Right: Soichiro Ogi from Japan

Dr.  Pawaret Leowanawat, named Kla, from Thailand has received the http://www.humboldt-foundation.de/web/georg-forster-stipendium-postdoc.htmlGeorg Forster-Research Stipend , which is mainly addressed to young scientists from emerging nations and developing countries with above average qualifications. Kla started his studies in 2000 at the Mahidol University, Bankok, following by a stay abroad from 2006 - 2013 at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA. There he dedicated his Ph.D studies on the design and synthesis of amphiphilic Janus dendrimers that self-assembled into uniform and stable vesicles with biological and targeting properties. His previous career includes many publications, teaching experience and several awards, for example the “Postgraduate Education and Research Program in Chemistry in Chemistry (PERCH) Scholarship.”  Here in Würzburg he is currently working on the design and synthesis of fluorescent J-aggregate core-substituted PBIs that also show liquid crystal properties.

Another grant, to be specific, the JSPS Stipend, has been given to Dr. Soichiro Ogi from Japan. His previous education started with his B.S. studies at the Kyushu University in 2003 and ended with his Ph.D. at the Graduate School of Pure and Applied Sciences, University of Tsukuba in March 2011. Soichiro Ogi received several awards during his career, e.g. the “Young Scientist Fellowship from Japan Society for the Promotion of Science" or the "Postdoctoral Fellowship from National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS). He has just published an outstanding paper on "Living supramolecular polymerization realized through abiomimetic approach" in the current issue of Nature Chemistry (March 2014) and is now deepening his scientific research as a postdoctoral fellow at the Würthner Group.

The Würthner Group congratulates them both on their Stipend - Good Job & Keep it Up!
