During a full day visit to BASF’s Ludwigshafen Site, group members had the opportunity to experience first-hand the inner workings of chemical industry.  After learning about the company’s structure and history, participants were informed about ongoing organic photovoltaic (OPV) and organic light-emitting diode (OLED) research conducted on-site.  The scientific lecture was followed by a tour of the Joint Innovation Lab where the cutting edge OPV and OLED research is conducted.  Afternoon activities included tours of the Citral and Vitamin-A and E fabrication plants.  The day was a great educational experience and left many students contemplating a future career with BASF.
