The mechanosensitive channel of small conductance, YnaI, opens by moving its sensor paddles when the membrane tension becomes very high. We found out how to reengineer the channel properties to make it open more easily with higher conductivity.
Zusammen mit Arbeitsgruppen au Portugal und den USA konnten wir das erste neue Peroxin seit zwanzig Jahren beschreiben und in Hefe und menschlichen Zellen funktionell beschreiben. Die Arbeit ist jetzt in Nature Cell Biology erschienen.
