THE HÖBARTNER GROUP: ORGANIC AND BIOMOLECULAR CHEMISTRY

Welcome to the team, Theertha!

10/09/2025

From the beginning of October until the end of December, Theertha Kannoli Paloran will be part of the Höbartner research group thanks to the GIANT exchange program funded by the DAAD and the Indian SPARC.

Theertha Kannoli Paloran and Maria Greeve

As part of the GIANT exchange program, Theertha Kannoli Paloran joins our research group from October to December 2025. We look forward to working together and wish her much success!

Theertha came to Germany with ambitious goals: In her research project she studies fluorescent RNA aptamers and their potential interactions with the tau protein. She is particularly interested in understanding if and how fluorogenic RNA aptamers bind to different forms of the tau protein and how we can study these interactions using NMR spectroscopy.

Maria Greeve, who is a participant in the IRTG2991 and has already gained experience in scientific and personal exchange with India, will be supporting Theertha as collaborator and buddy.

Together with nine other students, Theertha is participating in the GIANT exchange program of the Julius Maximilian University of Würzburg (JMU) and the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Thiruvananthapuram (IISER-TVM). GIANT, the German Indian Academic Network for Tomorrow, is funded by the DAAD and the Indian SPARC with the aim of establishing and expanding bilateral teaching and learning opportunities at the master's level.

By the way: MSc students enrolled at JMU can also apply for a GIANT research internship in Kerala. Theertha and Maria are happy to talk to you about the exchange program. Contact details and further information about the structured GIANT exchange program can be found at https://www.uni-wuerzburg.de/giant/.
