CNC Outreach Symposium in Würzburg – June 28th 2024
11.07.2024To celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the Center for Nanosystems Chemistry, a symposium with national and international speakers was held at the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy.
With the groundbreaking ceremony on July 7, 2014 for a research building for the Center for Nanosystems Chemistry (CNC), the Free State of Bavaria made a strong commitment for research on functional molecular nanosystems within the “Solar Technology go Hybrid” energy research programme in which five Bavarian universities (Bayreuth, Erlangen-Nürnberg, LMU and TU München, Würzburg) collaborate in the field of solar energy conversion. Since its official inauguration on October 7th 2016, the CNC has not only been a flagship for energy research at the University of Würzburg but also provides 50 workplaces for young scientists, hosted many lectures and is an important keylab for both the Bavarian Polymer Institute (BPI) and the “Solar Technologies go Hybrid” consortium.
Prof. Frank Würthner, founding director of the Center for Nanosystems Chemistry, and his work group together with Prof. Claudia Höbartner organized the CNC Outreach Symposium on June 28th 2024. With over 100 participants, the symposium took place in lecture hall B in the chemistry building and later on a reception was held in the nearby Von-Branca-Saal with a beautiful view of Würzburg. Not only scientists from the JMU attended, but also high-profile speakers from other German and international universities.
The speakers were:
Claudia Höbartner, Universität Würzburg
Hans-Achim Wagenknecht, KIT Karlsruhe
Shigehiro Yamaguchi, Nagoya University
Tobias Brixner, Universität Würzburg
Dongho Kim, Yonsei University Seoul
Klaus Meerholz, Universität zu Köln
Zhenan Bao, Stanford University
Congratulatory addresses towards Prof. Würthner for his achievements and service at the University of Würzburg were given by the dean Leane Lehmann and by the former dean Christoph Lambert.
