KOPO is the German acronym for Conjugated Oligomers and Polymers. Every two years, this conference brings together scientists, mainly from Germany, who are involved in research into materials for organic electronics. Around 100 scientists met in Bad Honnef from May 26 to 29 to discuss new developments in this field and to strengthen cooperation between the research groups, with the main aim of facilitating an exchange between experienced scientists and young researchers. The event was organized by Prof. Arne Lützen and Prof. Sigurd Höger and their team from the University of Bonn. Other speakers from Würzburg were Dr. Rajeev Dubey, Dr. Jake Greenfield, Prof. Holger Helten and PD Dr. Prince Ravat.

The Rudolf Gompper Memorial Lecture

Established in 1999 and now held for the 12th time, the named lecture honors Rudolf Gompper, an organic chemist who worked at the Universities of Stuttgart and Munich, and who passed away in 1999. In his lecture "Supramolecular Engineering of Functional Materials", Frank Würthner focused on the synthesis and use of extended nanographenes in photoluminescence applications and organic electronics.
