Joint Seminar in Guangzhou

03/20/2019

Since 2018 the groups of Zengqi Xie and Frank Würthner collaborate in the framework of a Chinese (NSFC) - German (DFG) project on the interlayer engineering for organic solar cells. The concept utilizes perylene bisimide dyes as photosensitizers in zinc oxide interlayers.

Now the first joint seminar was held in March in Guangzhou (China) which included intensive discussions with presentation of the work on the field of the solar cell interlayer. Furthermore a collaborative fabrication and characterization of interlayers and polymer-based solar cells was performed in the clean room at South China University of Technology.

Exciting leisure time activities such as a visit to the "Star Wars" concert at the famous Guangzhou Opera House could also be enjoyed. Nearby we had the most beautiful view on the Canton Tower and the impressive skyline of this city.

Besides the experience of Guangzhou’s cultural highlights we also saw one of the most famous classical gardens in Foshan, a city next to Guangzhou.

All in all we had a great time here in China and thank Prof. Xie and his group for their very kind hospitality.
