"Solar Technologies Go Hybrid" is the title of a new research initiative funded by the State of Bavaria. The Center of Nanosystems Chemistry at the University of Würzburg will receive almost a quarter of the total funding sum.

The Center of Nanosystems Chemistry (CNC), founded in 2010 by Prof. Würthner, will be developed considerably with the funds from the State of Bavaria in the following years. The initiative includes a new research building where innovative concepts will be explored for converting solar energy into electrical current and non-fossil fuel energy sources. Thus, the CNC will become one of five university research centers in Bavaria dedicated to developing cutting edge concepts for a sustainable energy supply in the coming years. The other four centers are located at the Universities of Bayreuth and Erlangen and the two Universities in Munich.
