Two new (old) PhD students!
05/13/2026This year we have welcomed back two of our previous master students, Lars and Anna as PhDs. Both have worked hard towards securing their projects, and succeeded! Congratulations!
Recently, two master students who have finished their theses in our group have come back to join us again. This time, they are staying for longer, because they will be pursuing their PhD!
Anna has been awarded a PhD scholarship from the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes. In addition, she was accepted into the Marianne-Plehn Programme. Alongside supporting her doctoral research, the programme will provide opportunities to contribute more actively to teaching and academic exchange.Her PhD project focuses on developing in situ solid-state NMR methods to investigate adsorption and transport processes in porous materials. Using metal-organic frameworks as model systems, the project aims to provide molecular-level insight into how molecules adsorb, diffuse, and interact within confined environments relevant to catalysis and separation applications.
Lars has joined a research network under SFB 1762 (Sonderforschungsbereich), BORONPro. The new BORONPro research network unites chemists, pharmacists and physicists to study boron-containing compounds. They investigate boron-centred transformations, boron-modified biomolecules and functional materials. Focusing on the latter, their research is centred on electrolytes for batteries and supercapacitors, as well as materials for organic light-emitting diodes. Lars's topic will focus on the characterization of ionic liquid crystals using NMR spectroscopy methods and calculations.
