How did life begin? MOM 2026 explored one of the most fundamental questions

06/18/2026

Our group participated in Molecular Origins of Life (MOM 2026). Lastes research and forster indisciplinary collaboration toward understanding life´s molecular beginnings were discussed in Munich from 11–12 June 2026.

Dr. Takumi Okuda presented a poster at the MOM Munich 2026

The meeting "Molecular Origins of Life" covered a broad range of topics related to the origin of life, from the formation of planets to the evolution of molecules. MOM 2026 brought together scientists across disciplines. From astronomy, biochemistry, biophysics, geosciences, to theoretical chemistry and physics, it shared ideas and pushed the field forward.

Takumi presented a poster at the conference and discussed the properties of a newly identified alkyltransferase ribozyme with members of the origins-of-life community.

The Molecular Origins of Life Munich 2026 was organized by DFG funded Collaborative Research Center 392 Molecular Evolution in Prebiotic Environments.
