Welcome to the team, Kaito!
07/23/2026From June to December 2026, Kaito Nitatouge will join the Höbartner research group as a visiting PhD student from the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences at The University of Osaka, Japan. We look forward to working together and wish him much success!
In his doctoral research, Kaito develops functional nucleic acids, particularly aptamers for the intracellular and nuclear delivery of therapeutic oligonucleotides. During his stay in Würzburg, he will expand his research toward catalytic nucleic acids by developing ribozymes with novel functions and is, in particular, involved in Taku’s early-career research group.
Kaito’s research stay is supported by “JST SPRING” and the “Next-Generation Global Leaders Overseas Dispatch Program” of The University of Osaka, which supports early-career researchers in gaining international research experience and building global academic networks.
As well as the academic aspects of his stay, Kaito is naturally keen to get to know the local area and the people here: “My colleagues in the lab have already introduced me to a few Bavarian traditions and organized some group activities. I’m looking forward to many more experiences and discoveries in Würzburg and the surrounding area.”
