Meyerhof Lecture 2022

10/06/2022

Claudia has been awarded the 2022 Meyerhof Medal from the Max Planck Institute for Medical Research.

Many thanks to the Max Planck Institute for Medical Research for the award!

The Meyerhof lecture remembers Otto Meyerhof, who received the 1922 Nobel Prize for Medicine for his work on the chemical events in muscle cells. He discovered the fixed relationship between the consumption of oxygen and the metabolism of lactic acid in the muscle. Later, together with Gustav Embden and other scientist, he revealed the details of glycolysis, often referred to as the Embden-Meyerhof pathway.

The visit at the Max-Planck Insitute was a day full of inspiring scientific discussions and new insights in various highly interesting areas, ranging from the history of the Institute, to the development of new fluorescent sensors and the biology of giant viruses, among many other exciting topics.

Special thanks to Kai Johnsson and the entire team @mpi_mr_hd for the invitation and organization of the visit.
