New fellowship holder in our group!

Kersten was recently awarded the Kekulé Fellowship for PhD candidates, funded by German Chemical Industry Association. The scholarship was granted for his project:

DNP-enhanced NMR spectroscopy for the analysis of guest loaded micelles

"The aim of this project is the development of the necessary methodology to investigate drug-loaded micelles using sensitivity-enhanced NMR spectroscopy. Enabling the NMR-analysis of increasingly complex drug delivery vehicles by dynamic nuclear polarisation (DNP), the understanding of structure and molecular interactions governing the properties of these particles will be improved. By this means, it will be possible to deduce guiding principles for the design of more efficient drug delivery systems. Furthermore, this study will pave the way for the application of DNP to the analysis of other guest-accommodating organic nanoparticles ranging from dye-loaded particles for bioimaging purposes to systems for compartmentalised catalysis as envisioned in the field of green chemistry."
